  Bexar Street Redevelopment Project

The Bexar Street Redevelopment Project is aimed at revitalizing this one time commercial corridor. The project calls for retail shops, urban townhomes, pedestrian improvements and plazas, DART linkages, public infrastructure improvements, employment/job training and links to the future Trinity River. Within the Ideal & Rochester Park neighborhoods, a comprehensive redevelopment effort will be implemented to include – home repair; infill development; public infrastructure improvements & code enforcement.
The Bexar Street Redevelopment Project consists of three (3) phases:

Phase 1: From Brigham Ln. to C.F. Hawn  (Infrastructure, neighborhood & Bexar Street corridor improvements)

Phase 2: From C.F. Hawn to Trinity Levee (Infrastructure, neighborhood & Bexar Street corridor improvements)

Phase 3: From Brigham Ln. to Myrtle St. (Infrastructure & neighborhood improvements)

     
  Frazier Neighborhood Redevelopment

The redevelopment of the Frazier neighborhood is being carried out via catalyst projects. The Dallas Housing Authority (DHA) is the largest community stakeholder. Recently, the DHA’s Frazier Courts community was redeveloped to make way for 310 new public housing townhouses. This project has and will have a significant impact on the greater Frazier Courts community. Other neighborhood catalyst projects include:

  • Frazier Courtyards – 51 new single-family housing units under construction by within the 4700 block of Spring Avenue.
  • Carpenter’s Point  – 150 new senior housing units planned for the 4600 block of Dolphin @ Mingo
  • 2nd Avenue Entertainment District – Proposed mixed-use entertainment district along 2nd Avenue, between Fitzhugh and Scyene.
  • Frazier-Scyene TOD – Planned mixed-use transit-oriented development within the 4500-4600 blocks of Scyene, opposite the Hatcher/Scyene DART Rail Station
  • Spring Avenue Redevelopment – Planned street / streetscape improvements and pedestrian amenities to compliment  Frazier Courtyards and other proposed development initiatives
