Ozone occurs naturally through the action of the sun's rays on oxygen in the atmosphere. Intensified reactions due to high temperatures, minimal wind, sunlight, and air pollution can create smog. Ozone can cause health problems depending on the length of exposure, frequency of exposure and the level of ozone concentrations. Call (214) 948-4439 after 4 p.m. to receive a recording of the daily ozone level. Information about steps citizens can take to lower ozone levels can be obtained by calling Air Pollution Control at (214) 948-4435. |
