Diabetes Awareness & Prevention Program

Funded through the Texas Department of Health-Texas Diabetes Council, DAPP began in 1994 as a community-based diabetes awareness program targeting African Americans in south Dallas/Oak Cliff, Hamilton Park and North Park.

Its overall mission is to reduce diabetes and its complications in the targeted group through education and empowerment of communities and neighborhoods.

Staff work with neighborhood associations, churches, schools, civic groups, businesses, and other health care providers to provide diabetes awareness, education, and prevention activities.
